Grand Christmas Tree Lighting At Galleria Dallas

Howdy y’all! How’s everyone?! Did y’all had a good Thanksgiving? I hope y’all did! Well, do y’all miss Thanksgiving already? I know I do. So, while already looking forward to the next Thanksgiving, let’s not forget all the fun things Thanksgiving kicks off for us!
Yes! Holiday season’s here!! (hope y’all realized it looking at the bells and snow effect I put up on the website. If you did not, then let’s just pretend you did :P). I know snow and Texas doesn’t go hand in hand, oh, and I so hope that what happened a few years back doesn’t happen ever again.
This Christmas season, you wouldn’t wanna miss the lighting of the indoor Christmas tree, TALLEST in the whole of the United States at Galleria Dallas.
The lighting ceremony is planned to be held on Friday (Nov. 29th), but it’s gonna happen on Saturday (Nov. 30th) as well! So grab your chance to have an experience of the lifetime
The Grand Tree Lighting
Every year, Galleria Dallas, a huge shopping center with more than 200 retailers, restaurants, etc in Dallas, organizes a unique, beautiful, and indeed unmatched, tree lighting ceremony of a huge Christmas Tree. Galleria Dallas, being one of the iconic shopping center with more than 12 million shoppers every year, gifts the city of Dallas with a Holiday season experience they can never have elsewhere.
This indoor Christmas tree is the tallest in the Country (heard the saying… Everything’s bigger and better in Texas?)
Erecting this huge Christmas required diligent hands of 50 people and 4 days!!
The Christmas Tree

Guess what? America’s tallest indoor Christmas tree, is 95 feet high (Woah, heaven itself starts at 70 ft. kidding haha but hey it’s TALL) and the Christmas tree has 850 branches. And no, these aren’t your tiny little branch. Each of these branches can measure anywhere between 3′ to 5′, frankly speaking that’s a whole individual tree by itself. Additionally, like the cherry on the cake, we have a 10 feet tall LED star on top of the Christmas tree! (no a big fan of cherry on the cake but 10 feet LED star, well, that’s jaw dropping and a neck aching height!)
Not only that, but the Christmas tree will feature LED lighting by Twinkly (It’s the same company that take cares of Christmas slights at Vatican. Talk about Authenticity.) Each of those LED lights are individually programmable, meaning, it can be used to give out different color lights to make different projections on the tree.
Can you guess the number of points of these LED lights? 50,000? Not even close. 100,000? Nah! The tree has a whopping 215,000 points of life. Period? Nope! It also has 15,000 ornaments!! No wonder this lighting ceremony has “Grand” in its name.
History
I did try to find some history regarding the lighting ceremony but couldn’t find much. But, yes, I did find that the first tree lighting ceremony at Galleria Dallas happened in 1984. (Although I couldn’t any strong evidence to back this, so you can take it with the grain of salt.)
Whereas the Galleria Dallas, in 1982, was developed by Hines Interests Limited Partnership. It was modeled after Houston Galleria, which is also a Hines development, which opened in 1970. Galleria Dallas and Houston Galleria Both has ice rinks and a glass vaulted ceiling that was inspired after the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, Italy.
Galleria Dallas has 200+ retailers, different restaurants and popular brand chains like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc.
What’s Special For The Grand Tree Lighting At Galleria Dallas 2024
Galleria Dallas organizes a free ice-skating show along with the grand tree lighting! And you won’t see an ice skating performance by someone like me, who slips as quickly as my skates touch the ice. Rather, you’ll witness a totally AWE-some ice skating performance by two-time National Champion and 2022 Olympian Ashley Cain. Joining here will be two-time Olympian Keegan Messing and 2022 Olympians Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker along with about 100 students from the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center.
Is that all? Not even close. The ice staking performance will be followed by a one-man show! By…who will it be? Missile Toes!! Galleria Dallas’ Santa who shoots fireworks from his skates (now you know why they call him “Missile” Toes). And he’s probably the only Santa to backflip, let alone backflipping on ice!
Join the countdown to lighting the tress as Santa flex their ice skating moves and watch all 215,000 light points sparkle with the colors of holiday cheer and Christmas joy, followed the fireworks finale!
