I got something, hot and exciting news for y’all! The dawn of February 16 won’t be your just another Austin morning because… the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon 2025 will be taking place on February 16, 2025 in all of its glory! 🔥

Ascension Seton Austin Marathon 2025 – The Brief

The 31st Annual Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, 2025 will be happening on February 16, 2025. The Austin will conduct 3 different racesThe Full Marathon (26.2 mi.), The Half Marathon (13.1 mi), and a 5k (3.1 mi).

Marathon & Half Marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. (Wheelchair division starts at 6:55 a.m.)

The 5k starts at 8:15 a.m. (Wheelchair division for 5k starts at 8:10 a.m.)

The packet pickup for the run will take place at Palmer Event center, Austin on Friday, February 14, 2025 (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM) and on Saturday, February 15, 2025 (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

Interested runners can also join the shake out run on February 14 at 7:00 a.m. at the Palmer Event Center. (Runners can opt for 3.5 mi or a 5 mi route.)

  • The Austin Marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. (6:55 a.m. for the wheelchair division) on February 16, 2025.

  • The Marathon starts at 2nd & Congress and ends at 9th & Congress.

  • The marathon will have an Elite field and 3 corrals (A, B, & C). The run will have a wave motion start i.e. corrals will be sent one after the other after certain intervals of time to avoid congestion at start line.

Ascension Seton Half Marathon – The 13.1 Mile Run

  • The Austin Half Marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. (6:55 a.m. for the wheelchair division) on February 16, 2025.

  • Same as the full marathon, the Half Marathon starts at 2nd & Congress and ends at 9th & Congress.

  • The Half Marathon will have an Elite field and 6 corrals (A, B, C, D, E, & F). The run will have a wave start i.e. corrals will be sent one after the other after certain intervals of time to avoid congestion at start line.

Ascension Seton Austin 5k 2025 – The 3.1 Mile Run

  • The Austin 5k starts at 8:15 a.m. (8:00 a.m. for wheelchair division) on February 16, 2025.

  • The Austin 5k starts and ends at 200 Congress Ave North of Congress Street Bridge

  • The 5k run won’t have any corrals or pacers.

The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, & Half Marathon Course Map

Austin Marathon is nothing less than a huge sports festival right in the heart of central Texas. You’ll find a lot of things around and long your course. The interactive course map will help you find your course as well as other awesome things you can look out for on the race day.

Use the Collapse Button To Open Or Close The Legend For The Interactive Course Map button to open up the map legend that lets you highlight your course path when you check the box beside the race you are running for.

A quick general guide to use the map. (check the box beside the item to make it show on the map)

  • Indicates the Start line for the Marathon & the Half Marathon.
  • Indicates the Finish line for the Marathon & the Half Marathon.
  • These light, tiny yellow dots are mile markers.
  • These dark blue dots indicate the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, & 40 kilometers on the course path.
  • This shows the route for the Austin Full Marathon (26.2 mile)
  • This shows the route for the Austin Half Marathon (13.2 mile)
  • These blue pins show the aid stations set up along your course
  • These red pins show the energy zones. This is where y’all can get your gels for the run.
  • These are some of the official cheering spot. But y’all will find more on the way.

Registration For The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k

Registration for any of the races is available online until 3 p.m. Saturday, February 15th. (Y’all can choose to register at the Expo too.)

(The run only allows a certain number of registrations, so once any race is sold out, you won’t be able to register for it.)

Age Requirements For Registration

  • Full marathon: 16 and over.
  • Half marathon: 14 and over.
  • 5K: 2 and over.

The registration fee gets higher as the race day gets closer. Food service industry employees get a discount! (Excludes tax.)

Athletes With Disabilities (AWD) Division

The Austin Marathon welcomes and celebrates athletes with disabilities in all of their runs.

The AWD division will have their start times 5 minutes before the official start time of race they are running.

Self-propelled racing wheelchairs (excluding hand-cycles) and wheelchairs being pushed by a guide are permitted in the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K events.

Make sure to contact Austin Marathon for rules on wheelchairs.

Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k Packet Pickup & Fitness Expo

The Packet pickup for all the races happening on the February 16 will take place at the Palmer Event Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704 (Parking will cost $7 during the expo hours.)

Y’all can pick up your packet from the event center either on Friday, February 14, 2025 (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) or on Saturday, February 15, 2025 (9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

Y’all have to get your packet in person. Kids 17 and under can have their packet picked up by the parents.

Remember to get your Bib number (it’s sent to you via email on registration) and your photo ID with you. Only service dogs are allowed at the center, so y’all will have to keep your furry friend at home.

Do keep in mind, y’all, there’ll be no race day packet pickup.


Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k Race and On Course Amenities

The Austin Marathon, Austin Half Marathon and the Austin 5k are one of the most lively and the most well-equipped runs that never fail to look after the on-course needs of the runner. Be it just a glass of water or a refreshing sports drink, be it an emergency medial help on the course or a boost of adrenaline with all of Austin cheering for you, this run has got you all covered!

Aid Stations

There are 22 Aid Stations set-up throughout the course to attend to your needs. The Full Marathon will pass by all the 22 Aid Stations, but the Half Marathon will have 9 of them set up in their Path.

The Aid Stations will provide you with water, electrolyte (lemon-lime) hydration, and medical personnel also be present at each Aid Station. Restrooms will be present at each Aid Station too. A few Aid Stations are marked as Energy Zones that provides you with supplements to give you that boost to keep you running and achieve that PR (Personal Record.) More on Energy Zones below.

You’ll find the Aid Stations at miles – 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (last Aid Station for the Half Marathoners), 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25.

There’ll be no Aid Stations set up for the 5k course.

Medical Help At The Aid Stations

Medical teams, located at the end of each aid station with a red “Medical Station” signage, will be equipped with first aid, so let them know y’all need any medical help.

They will also be located at the start and finish lines.

Energy Zones

Special Aid Stations, otherwise called Energy Zones, will be located at miles 9 and 20. (Half marathoners will pass by 1 Energy Zone, and the Full marathoners will have access to 2 Energy Zones.)

These Energy Zones will provide you with Go Gels (Apple Cinnamon and Mixed Berry (caffeinated)  flavors), Electrolytes (solution with 500mg sodium), G.1.M Sport. (endurance drink with 20g carbs and 350mg sodium.)

Entertainment Along The Way

There’ll be a whole lot of entertainment and cheering along the course. Different sessions will kick off at various spots along the course, from 7:15 am to 11:30 am. Be on the lookout for all them, y’all!

Cheering Stations

There’ll be dedicated cheering stations along your path to cheer you on when you need it the most. They’ll be located at – Congress & Live Oak St, Half/Full Split (15th & San Antonio), Mile 16.5, Final Mile.

There’ll many more people cheering you along the course, not mention all the spectators that will line along the path to watch you win!

Restrooms

Portable toilets will be set up at the start/fine line. Every aid station along the course will have restrooms set up too.

Pacers

Only the Full Marathon willl have pacers that y’all can join to complete your run in a pre-estimated time.

The pace groups have the following target finish time (hrs:min)-

3:00, 3:05, 3:10, 3:15, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, } These pacers are from Corral A.

3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:05, 4:20, 4:35, } These belong to Corral B runners.

4:50. } This pace group is for Corral C runners.

Pace group 3:00 will run on gun time, the other’s will have their time measure based on chip time.

There’ll be no pacers for Half Marathon and 5k

Corrals

To enhance the running experience the runners will be divided into different corrals. These are groups made of runners keeping their pace, past finish time, etc in mind. The corral assigned to you will be mentioned on your bib.

The Full Marathon will have 3 corrals – A, B, & C.

There will be no corrals for the 5k.

Make sure to be the right corral position at the start time!

Here’s a tip – If you want to run with your friend. You both can join a later corral and run together!

Gear Check

Complimentary Gear Check will be provided by the Austin Marathon. This is where y’all can keep you belongings while you run.

Y’all will be given a clear plastic gear bag at the Gear Bag tent (no other bags will accepted for safety concerns. You can only use the clear plastic gear bag.)

Y’all can stuff in all your belongings in those plastic bag and make sure to mention your bib number on it, or else you won’t get you bag back and your bag might end up in lost & found department.

Please don’t leave anything valuable in your bag, as we can’t take responsibility for any lost items

Gear check starts at 5:30 a.m. and closes at 2:30 p.m. So make sure to get your bags back before it closes. Plus, it’s a good idea to arrive early as the gear bag tent might get crowded once the start time closes in.


Finish Line Festival

Was running the marathon fun?! Well, at Austin Marathon, fun and celebration begins once you cross the finish line!

There’ll a be huge festive atmosphere at the finish line to celebrate your finish. There’ll be live music at the finish line, Tasman Shapre and Fusion ATX will be rocking the stage at 9 a.m and 11 a.m. respectively.

If you are 21+ don’t you miss out on the EIGHT beer gardens and get the taste of the EIGHT Beer or a drink from Tito’s Handmade Vodka. EIGHT beer will be located right next to the live music stage.

Make sure to hit the PR gong if you hit your personal record, or accomplished any running goal you set for the day!

Many more fun exhibitions will be set up around the finish line! I’m sure it’ll all feel like an amazing carnival! No wonder it’s called finish line “festival.” The best part? the whole festival and the runners crossing the finish line will be captured by 2 jumbtrons (really large screens) set up at the finish line! oh oh it’s Texas, so how can we miss out on food?! Food trucks will be stationed near the finish line at some distance. Don’t forget to treat yourself that delicious snack after your run!

After Party

Wanna go full on party made? You should definitely check out the official Austin Marathon x RAW Running after party, hosted at the Mayfair (501 W 6th St Ste. 300, Austin, TX 78701)

The After Party will start at 6:00 p.m. and run through 11:00 p.m. on February 16 There’ll be DJ, Snacks and Drinks and all you can ask for at a party!

RSVP is required if you wanna attend the After Party.


Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony will begin at various times as different races are run according to their times. All the awards will be handed out in the Awards tent. If there are time disputes, the volunteers will let you about the following procedures. The Awards Tent will remain open until 2:00 p.m.

The Elite Runners Awards

The Austin Marathon has a prize pool of $10,000 each for Men’s and Women’s division running the Marathon. Top 5 runners win a certain sum. Know more here. The winners willl be decided based on gun time.

The Top Marathoners can get their awards in thr awards tent at 7th & Congress Ave at 10:00 a.m.

5k does not have a elite field/division.

Age Group Awards

The Age Group awards are will be given to runners irrespective of the races they’ll be runnning. These awards are based on chip time. The top 3 male and female runners in each age group will be awarded.

The age groups are – 19 & Under 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-85, 85 & above.

Age group awards will be given out for Full Marathoners at 11:30 a.m., Half Marathoners at 10:30 a.m., and for 5k runners at 9:30 a.m. at the Awards tent at 7th & Congress Ave.

Non-Binary Division Awards

These awards will be based on chip time too instead of gun time (official time.) The top 5 non binary participants of the Marathon, Half Marathon, and the 5k will be awarded at the Awards tent once they complete their race.

Or they might get an email later on, if there are disputes regarding the top positions.

Wheelchair (AWD) Division

Awards will be given to the top 3 AWDs running the Marathon, Half Marathon or the 5k. Awards will be handed out in the Awards Tent.


Official Race Day Photos

Would you like to get your profesionally captured photo after the run? You can choose to pre-order them here!

Please see that your bib is clearly visible, this will ensure that photographers get your picture, plus it will help the authorities to get all your photos to you quickly.

Photos will be uploaded within 48 hours after the event, FinisherPix, the official photographer for the event, will send the link for the personal photo links directly to each participant.

The official results for the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k can be found here any time following the end of the event.

The age awards and the elite awards will be given right after the race at the Awards tent, unless there’s some dispute with the positions.


Spectators Guide For The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k Run

Will you be at the event to cheer on for your fav runner? Or perhaps to cheer on your loved one? There are certain things you might want to consider so you can have a fun experience too!

  • Arrive Early – The event is expected to have about 100,000+ spectators! To get a better view it’s better to arrive early!
  • Plan Ahead – Plan before hand where you gonna park, where you gonna position yourself to avoid problems on the race.
  • Wear Appropriately – Please check weather and wear accordingly, although Texas being Texas it can be cold in the morning and scorching hot in the afternoon.
  • Water & Snacks – Make sure to get some snacks and water bottle with you, so you don’t have to give up your place to get water.

Street Closures On The Race Day

The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k being one of the most popular events in Texas, it will have a number of streets closed on February 16. It’s suggsted to avoid the course paths of all the runs.

Additionally, Austin Marathon street closures have already been submitted to Google Maps and Waze in advance, therefore,they will display the closures and the associated traffic., but it’s still recommended to go throught the traffic guide once.


Location & Parking On The Race Day

The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5k will be held in Downtown Austin, Texas, USA.

Parking

There are numerous parking spots in downtown Austin within walking distance of the start and finish lines.

Some of them are free of charge while others charge a fee. It’s better to visit a day before and see where you gonna park. Additionally it’s better to arrive early on the Race day to secure a parking spot closer to the start/finish line.


Things To Remember Before Your Race

  • Arrive early to avoid being late for the race.
  • Make sure to mention your bib number on your gear bag.
  • Don’t run your race with someone else’s bib.
  • It might be cold out there in the morning so wear accordingly. It’s always better to check the weather beforehand.
  • In case it rains, make sure to wear the right shoes to avoid slipping.
  • Make sure your bib is fully visible.
  • Eat a light breakfast (probably a banana)
  • Make sure to keep yourself hydrated but see that you don’t overdo it.

Race/Marathon Terms One Should Know

Bib – A bib is the identification number given to a runner. It is printed on a sheet that runners wear on their chest during the race. It helps in identifying runners, recording their timing, and tracking them accurately.

Wave Start – A wave start is a method of starting the race in multiple groups (Corrals) or “waves” of a group of runners one after the other, rather than having everyone begin at the same time to avoid congestion.

Corrals – A Corral is an assigned area at the start line where runners are grouped before the race. It helps to organize the race better so it doesn’t become congested as many people will be running. (For instance, runners can be divided in corrals – A, B, C, or D…) Your corral is often mention on your bib. (Look for the capital letter on your bib. That letter is your corral.)

Chip Time – A tag (timing device) used to calculate your start and finish time. It is your personal timer and it keeps track of the time you cross the finish. It starts automatically as soon as you cross the start line.

Gun Time – This is the official start time of the race.

Pace teams – A group of pacers, who help participants achieve a certain finish time by running at a certain, pre-planned pace throughout the race. This way, runners joining pace teams can run together and even motivate each other to beat their personal bests.

Pacers – The experienced runners in the pace team are called pacers. Following them will help you reach the finish line on a approx. pre-estimated time.

Pace – Pace in races is similar to that of speed but is measured in minutes per mile i.e how many minutes you take to cover one mile.

Legacy – Runners who have successfully ran and finished a certain race or marathon a certain number of times in consecutive years become part of the legacy.

Gear Check  – A place where you can check in your bags check to store your important items safely while you run. You can get your bags back after the race.


Frequently Asked Question – Austin Marathon 2025

Can I run with my pet?

No. Pets aren’t allowed on the course.

Are baby strollers allowed on the course?

Yes, baby strollers are allowed but only for the 5k run.

What if I need Medical Attention during the marathon?

Every Aid station at the race has will have medical personnel ready with a first aid kit. Let them know if you any need any kind of medical help.

Can I qualify for Boston Marathon through Austin Marathon?

Yes. The Boston Marathon accepts qualifying times from the Austin Marathon. Click here for the Boston Marathon Qualification details.

Can I join a different wave/corral?

You can join a different corral/wave on the race day, but it has to be a corral that’ll run after the corral assigned to you. For instance, a runner from corral B can join later corrals (i.e C, D) but cannot join the corrals before him (i.e. Corral A)

Can I defer my registration for the next year’s Marathon?

No, the last date to defer your registration to the the next year’s Austin Marathon has been expired and the option is no longer available.

I have registered for the 5k, can I change my registration to the half marathon or full marathon?

Yes you can do so here. You’ll need to pay and additional transfering fee + registration price difference of the distance you are switching to at that time. The last date to switch your registration to a differnt race is February 15 (until 3:00 p.m. Central.)

I have registered for a longer distance, can I change my registration to any of the shorter distances?

Yes, you can switch your registration to a shorter distance for an additional transfer fee. Do note y’all, the difference betweeen the registration price you had to pay while registering for your current distance and the registrations fee of the shorter distance won’t be refunded. The last date to switch your registration to a differnt race is February 15 (until 3:00 p.m. Central.)

Can I transfer my registration to some other person?

No, you can’t transfer your registration to some other person. Although this option was available before February 9, but now that option is expired.

Can I wear headphones durng the run?

Yes, alhough it isn’t encourgad but if you would like to wear your headphones then please see that you are still able to hear the instructions delivered at the run.
