The most popular and loved Hot Chocolate Run 2025 is back at Dallas this year!
It’s time to run our hearts out for that delicious hot chocolate yet again!

Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – The Brief
The USA TODAY Hot Chocolate Run, popularly known as “America’s Sweetest Run,” is one of the most iconic and the most loved running series that is conducted every year in every major city throughout the United States! And it’s coming back to Dallas this year on Februray 8!
Brining the running enthusiasts and chocolate lovers together, Hot Chocolate Run gives an option to choose three different distances for the Run – 5k (3.1 mi), 10k (6.2 mi) or 15k (9.3 mi).
The Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 will have its start and finish line at the Fair Park near the Cotton Bowl stadium.
The finishers will have cup of delicious hot chocolate, marshmallow & chocolate dip waiting for them at the finish line along with that huge shiny finisher medal. (For those of y’all who love to collect medals, Hot Chocolate Run 2025 medal surely deserves to be your collection.)
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – Types of Races
The Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 happening on February 8, 2025 gives you the option to choose to run any of the three distances.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – 5k (3.1 miles)
- Must be 8 years or older on race day to participate.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – 10k (6.2 miles)
- Must be 10 years or older on race day to participate.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – 15k (9.3 miles)
- Must be 12 years or older on race day to participate.

Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – The Course Map
No matter what you distance you choose, alll the courses will take you through South Dallas’ Fair Park and Old East Dallas neighborhoods.
But 15K course will take you through the other parts of Dallas providing scenic views of the Santa Fe Trail and Lower Greenville.
The interactive map below will help you identify the course for the distance you chose to run.
Use the Button to open up the map legend that lets you highlight your course path when you check the box beside the race distance you are running for.
For instance, check the check box beside the “5k Distance” (and uncheck the boxes for other distances) to view the course path only for the 5k run.
Check the checkbox beside the “Aid Stations” to view all the aid stations present throughout the course map. indicate the Aid Stations or Sweet Stations (grab something sweet to eat while running!) on the map.

The Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 is the last Hot Chocolate Run in Texas for the year 2025, therefore, make sure to register now!

The Registration Fee are subject to change with time.
- The Registration Fee for 5k is – $64

If you run for consecutive years in any of the Hot Chocolate Races held throughout the US for more than 3, 5, 10 or 15 years, you become part of the Legacy and earn extra special goodies. Although there should be no break between the years. You must run for every single consecutive year.
Do note y’all, while registering you can either choose to have the packet mailed (cost’s extra) to you or you can visit the EXPO to get your packet.

Athletes with Disabilities (AWD)
The Hot Chocolate Run welcomes the athletes with disabilities to participate in their run series. Athletes with Disabilities (AWD) include – Blade Runners, Visually Impaired Runners, Adaptive / Guided Runners, Pushed Athletes, Push Rim, Racing Chair and Hand Cycles, etc,
To participate as an AWD athlete you must let the Race Director know that you wanna participate 20 days in advance. To make sure your spot is reserved and approved, contact – awd@venturesendurance.com.

Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – The Expo/Packet Pickup
The Expo/ Packet Pickup for the Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025, will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m and on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Automobile Building, Fair Park, 1010 1st Ave, Dallas, Texas 75210.
When visiting for the EXPO, parking is available at the Fair Park for $10.
Make sure to get your packet (includes the Kit and the Bib.) Feel free to look through the exhibitions and get your hands on the exciting merch on display.
Don’t miss out on trying the delicious chocolate at the EXPO, y’all!! 🍫😋
Please note that there will be no swapping of Goodie Bag sizes at the expo or on race day. And there will be NO race day packet pickup. You must pick up your packet at Expo. If you missed the Exp for some reason you will get the emergency bib from the pink info tent on the race day but you will miss out on the exciting things that comes with the packet, so it’s recommended you get your packet on February 6th or February 7th.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – The Race Day
On February 8, 2025, as you get ready for your awesome race here are few things y’all must know.
The Start Times
5k start time: 7:15 am
10k start time: 8:15 am
15k start time: 8:15 am
Gear check will open 60 mins before start time.
Monitors heart rate and uses GPS to track how far, how fast and where you’ve run.
Includes tools like race time predictions and finish time estimates. Rechargeable. Up to 2 weeks of Battery Life.
The Course
Although the race is held in South Dallas, being real close to the beautiful Downtown Dallas, y’all will find some real famous and beautiful places including the Old East Dallas neighborhoods as you make your way through the course.
You’ll make your way by/through –
- Cotton Bowl Stadium
- Texas Star Ferris Wheel
- Santa Fe Trail (For 15k runners)
- And not to forget the start & finish line at Fair Park.
Please note that y’alls bib must be clearly and fully visible on the front of your torso and fully attached for you to receive an accurate time and to access your start corral.
Things To Remember
- Arrive 1 hour early to avoid being late for the race and joining your assigned corrals (Your corral will be mentioned on your bib. Don’t know what a corral is? check out the race terms you must know.)
- It might be cold out there in the morning so wear accordingly. It might even rain or snow, so check weather.
- In case it rains, make sure to wear right shoes to avoid slipping.
- Make sure your bib is fully visible.
- Eat a light breakfast (probably a banana)
- Make sure to keep yourself hydrated but see that you don’t over do it.
- Individually Wrapped Raincoats. Pocket-Size.
- Clear Plastic for Rain and Water Protection.
- One Size Fits All. Stretchable. Durable.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – The Post Race Events
As you make your way back to the finish line at the Fair Park, you’ll find your brand new, shiny, well deserved medal waiting for you at the finish line. It’s now time to celebrate your victory at the post race party!
Post Race Party
Now that you have completed your race, it’s time for celebration and yes, your sweet victroy treat (Chocoholic finisher’s mug full of fondue, hot chocolate and a banana) is waiting for you at the Fair Park!
Remove the tag from your bib and hand it over at the counter at the park to claim your hot chocolate victory treat. If you are not sure how to do it, not to worry, the volunteers will help you out.
There’ll be music and dancing set up just for you! 🎵🎉
There’ll be different vendors at the fair park with their awesome merch! Make sure to get what your heart desires!
Awards will be announced at the Post Race Party too. 🏆
Award Ceremony
The Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 will have its Award Ceremony at the Fair Park after the race!
The awards will be announced at the Post Race Party at the DJ Stage!
The Hot Chocolate Run by USA Today will hand out medals and awards to the overall top 3 male and female race winners at the park!
The prize for the top 3 male and female finishers in the 5K, 10K and 15K include: (Your name will be annouced at the DJ at the park)
- Receive 100% off next year’s registration and 40% merch coupon emailed 3-4 weeks after the race
The prize for 1st Place in each Age Group for the 5K, 10K and 15K include: (You will be notified through email, if you have won the 1st place)

Age Groups: Under 14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
Free high-res photos and your race time will be emailed to all participants as soon as they cross the finish line. You can track the race live here!
Location and Parking
The Start and Finish lines for all the races at held the Fair Park, 1010 1st Ave, Dallas, Texas 75210, United States.
Parking
Y’all it is encouraged that y’all use public transportation (Commerce at Malcolm X – E – NS is the nearest bus stop to Fair Park) or rideshare services to reach Fair park on the race day.
If y’all will be driving to the Fair Park on the race day, free parking within Fair Park is available until 8:00 a.m. through Gates 10 & 11 only off of S. Fitzhugh Ave.
Do note, y’all most parking lots are totally on the opposite side of where the Start line is in the Fair Park, so make sure you’re not late.

Please do follow the directions mentioned in the map when you are on I-30 to Fair Park (according to the distance you will be running as instructions for different distance runners are different.)

No parking is allowed on the course of the run, anyone doing will have their vehicles towed.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – Street Closures
Due its popularity in Dallas, Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 is expected to have a huge number of participants which calls to a few roads being closed along the course of the race.
There will a few streets where one part of the divider will be open to traffic whereas other will be set apart for the runners.
There will be a few streets that will be fully blocked by those traffic blocking cones to give way to the runners.
The local and race authorities and volunteers will be present along the course to guide the runners.
For those not participating, It’s better if y’all avoid driving around course path early morning on Wednesday, February 8, 2025 unless you really have to drive through those streets, or y’all can choose to use alternate paths.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – Event Closure and Refunds
The race won’t be cancelled rain or shine. Although if the weather gets so bad that it might be dangerous for the runners in any way, then the event will be cancelled.
You will be notified about the cancellation through your email.
Information for the refund or a different date for the run will shared via the email.
If by any chance you can’t attend or run on the race day, there will be no refund.

USA TODAY Hot Chocolate Run – A Little History
Did y’all know the USA Today Hot Chocolate will conduct 16 races this year?!
Over 125,000 people participate in Hot Chocolate Run series (both live and virtual) across US in a year.
But the US has its first sweetest run ever in Chicago in 2008.
3 years later, the race was conducted in other cities throughout US winning people’s hearts wherever it went.
Today USA Today along with other national partners conduct the series of Hot Chocolate Run throughout the United States.
Not only the Run give the runners a unique and sweet experience (and treat after the race) but also gives them the opportunity to give back to the community as the Hot Chocolate Run is partnering with Special Olympics – a global sports movement to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities. More on that below.

People choose to run races for a couple reasons –

Race/Marathon Terms One Should Know
Bib – A bib is the identification number given to a runner, printed on a sheet that runners wear on their chest during the race. It helps in identifying runners, recording their timing, and tracking accurately.
Wave Start – A wave start is a method of starting the race in multiple groups (Corrals) or “waves” of a group of runners one after the other, rather than having everyone begin at the same time to avoid congestion.
Corrals – A Corral is an assigned area at the start line where runners are grouped before the race. It helps to organize the race better so it doesn’t become congested as many people will be running. (For instance, runners can be divided in corrals – A, B, C, or D..) Your corral is often mention on your bib. (Look for the capital letter on your bib. That letter is your corral.)
Chip Time – A tag (timing device) used to calculate your start and finish time. [It is needed as a few corrals start later on so their timings start later on, upon crossing the start line.]
Gun Time – This is the official start of the race.
Pace teams – A group of pacers, who help participants achieve a certain finish time by running at a certain, pre-planned pace throughout the race. This way, runners joining pace teams can run together and even motivate each other to beat their personal bests.
Pacers – The experienced runners in the pace team are called pacers. Following them will help you reach the finish line on a pre-estimated time.
Pace – Pace in races is similar to that of speed but is measured in minutes per mile i.e how many minutes you take to cover one mile.
Legacy – Runners who have successfully ran and finished any Hot Chocolate Races held throughout the US for more 3, 5, 10 or 15 years, you become part of the Legacy and earn extra special goodies. Although there should be no break between the years. You must run for every single consecutive year.
Gear Check – A place where you can check in your bags check to store your important items safely while you run. You can get your bags back after the race.
Dallas Hot Chocolate Run 2025 – Frequently Asked Questions
I have already registered for 5k, can I switch to 10k or 15k?
Yes. Log in to your Enmotive Account, and on your registration page, click “Edit.” There you can switch to the different distance. Although if you are going from the 5k to 10k or 15k, or the 10k to 15k you’ll have to pay the difference.
(If you are switching from 15k to 10k or 5k, or 10k to 5k the difference won’t be refunded.)
Are strollers or pets allowed?
Strollers or pets are not allowed. Although if you are an AWD, the use of wheeled devices by participants is limited to approved AWD wheelchair, handcycle and duo team participants only.
Are there toilets onsite?
Yes, you’ll find port-a-cans (portable toilets) at the start and finish lines and also at every aid stations throughout the course.
Will there be pacers at the race?
Yes, you will find them in a bright yellow green fit with a small flag with their pace mentioned on it.
