Thanksgiving At Discovery Green
Howdy, y’all!! Guess what?!!! Thanksgiving is just around the corner!!
Are y’all ready to make this Thanksgiving the BEST one yet?! C’mon, you are Texans, so your Thanksgiving must be BEST one yet. We got just so much to be thankful for!

The ICE (powered by Green Mountain Energy)
If you are in Houston this time around on the Thanksgiving Day and still wondering what to do on the Thanksgiving? Worry not! Discovery Green has organized an ice skating event at The Ice, powered by Green Mountain Energy.
So, after enjoying the delicacies of your Thanksgiving spread, it’s time to head out to Discovery Green right in the heart of Downtown Houston!
Discovery Green’s ice rink is surrounded by the spectacular colorful lights of the city’s skylines. Not to mention, the beautiful way the park adorns itself with the magical glittering lights and friendly and fun atmosphere.
Tickets and Fee
The price for skating and rental is $18 per head. Which allows you to skate for the whole of 75 minutes and tickets can only be purchased online. Stake rentals are included with your ticket.
You can enjoy ticket price concessions if you are a member of/ belong to :
Green Mountain Energy
Employees and customers receive $2 discount. Proof of current billing or employee identification will be needed upon your entry.
Bank of America
Customers and employees of Bank of America receive $2 discount on their ticket too. Proof of membership will be required upon entry.
First responders & Military
You’ll receive a $2 discount on every ticket for up to 5 people. (You’ll be required to show a valid I.D.)
Forever Green Members
Discovery Green members receive $2 discount on every ticket (up to max. 5 family members). You’ll need to show the proof of member card for entry.
Please note, tickets for Thanksgiving can only be purchased online. Due to limited capacity, Discovery Green can allow only a certain number of guests. So, reserve your skating experience right away!
All the sales goes to support the Discovery Green Conservancy.
Note – Skaters must sign a waiver online after purchasing tickets. E-tickets will not be sent until the waiver is completed.
Timings
The event will start at 5 p.m. and will end at 9 p.m. It is requested that you reach Discovery Green 10–20 minutes earlier than your appointed time.
Once you check into the rink, your 75 minutes will start. If you have to leave the rink for some reason, you cannot get back in. (This rule kinda scares me like what if I had to go out for some serious reason. Guess, I’ll have to simply get a ticket for some other day. But, hope I never have to leave half way and neither you!)
Skating guests under the age of 12 may have a parent or guardian accompany them.
Little children will be offered double-runners if needed. You can get helmets from home if you’d like as Discovery Green won’t offer any helmets.
You can rent a locker for $2 to keep your purses, backpacks, or shoes while skating.
Closures and Refunds
Do note, The ice rink may be closed or delayed at times in case of bad weather conditions. Check www.discoverygreen.com for closures and other delays. Guests holding tickets will be notified via email if at all there comes a need for the closure of the rink that particular day. The tickets will be refunded if there’s a closure due to weather at their reserved times, or you can opt to postpone your reservation to some other date. Let’s hope the weather will be just right to make the most out of the 28th!
