Howdy, my amazing Texans! That beautiful day when we celebrate love is here yet again this year.
Although, we Texans make use of every opportunity to love hard on our loved ones, Valentine’s Day, gives us another chance to love them on a totally whole new level, and tell them how precious they are to us. ❤️
To help us do just that, Discovery Green has organized a special movie night along with other activities for the Valentine’s Day, making your day magical and overflowing with love.

The Valentine’s Day Special – Casablanca (1942)
Discovery Green has organized something real special memorable for the Valentine’s Day. It’s not just any other movie night, but is filled with a little more extra added loved to make your night with your special someone pleasantly unforgettable.
The Valentine’s Day exclusive activities include a free screening of a romantic movie, special crafts, flowers (limited supplies!) and artisan chocolates for sale, and delicious food from the restaurants (The Groove, The Lake House) and food truck at Discovery Green.
Dinner at this beautiful park along with the Valentine’s Day Special movie screening, all the while being surrounded by the majestic and stunning park and city lights surely make for one of the perfect ways to make the day memorable with your special someone.
The movie for the night is – Casablanca (1942) ❤️
Casablanca (1942) – The Movie Plot
Released in 1942, Casablanca is an American wartime romantic drama film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Paul Henreid.
The movie was set and shot during World War II, and it revolves around an American expatriate (Bogart) who must make decision to choose between his love for a woman (Bergman) and helping her husband (Henreid), a Czechoslovak resistance leader, escape from the Vichy-controlled city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Germans.
The film is based on Murray Burnett and Joan Alison’s unproduced play Everybody Comes to Rick’s.

Adjacent to Brown Promenade (the walk way is lined up by 100+ years old oak trees) is where you’ll find the 4,700-square-foot raised deck called Hess Patio. Constructed from eco-friendly Brazalian Ipe wood, Hess Patio was Installed in Spring of 2014.
You will love spending your time here, and simply relax enjoying the movie with your special someone under the beautiful starry Houston night surrounded by the pretty park lights and spectacular Houston Skyline.
So make sure to get your cozy blanket or mats or chair and enjoy the night away!

Tickets
There are no tickets or fee for the movie. It’s entirely free. Y’all will simply have to register here if you are planning to attend the movie night.
Timings
The Valentine’s Day special at Discovery Green is held on Friday, February 14, 2025, 05:00 p.m. to 09:00 p.m.
05:00 p.m. to 09:00 p.m. – Y’all can enjoy the Craftella Bouquet Bar, Phoenicia Sweet Bar, PopLife Popcorn, and more.
07:00 p.m. to 09:00 p.m. – Casablanca (102 minutes) will be screened at Hess Patio at Discovery Green.
Just a Tip : You might wanna check for the weather updates for that day. If it’s gonna rain, come prepared.
Location And Parking
The Discovery Green park is located at 1500 McKinney St, Houston, TX 77010, United States.
Parking
There are many metered parking lot spaces around Discovery Green. (If you are a citizen with a parking placard/ veteran plate, you can park in a regular metered space without having to pay)
The closest garage, Avenida Central is located at 1002 Avenida de las Americas.
You’ll find entry for the underground garage, on Avenida de las Americas, across from the George R. Brown Convention Center.
For more information on parking, feel free to comment down. Feel free to use rideshare services if you don’t wanna worry about parking.
Additionally, you can also opt for METRORail, connect to the Green or Purple Line and get off at the stop called Convention District. Learn more at ridemetro.org. If you live somewhere nearby, you can use the Houston’s B- Cycle program too.

In any case, if the event needs to be cancelled, for instance, due to weather, the event will be pushed to some other day. Sign up for our mailing list so we can keep you updated in case the event is cancelled.

During the Valentine’s Day, y’all will find Jen Lewin’s Interactive Art installations along the Brown promenade at Discovery Green.
These installations are fixed onto the 100+ year old oak trees, and they respond with glowing lights when it senses motion underneath, which makes your walk on the brown promenade with your special someone a memorable uncommon experience.
